Top 5 Travel and Local Apps on Android in Central America: Q1 2023

In the first quarter of 2023, the travel and local apps category saw significant activity on the Android platform in Central America. Here, we analyze the performance of the top 5 apps based on weekly downloads, revenue, and active user trends, leveraging data from Sensor Tower.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel started Q1 strong with 95K downloads in the first week of January. However, downloads saw a gradual decline, ending the quarter at around 62K. Weekly active users also experienced a decrease from approximately 461K at the beginning of the quarter to 376K by the end of March.

Airbnb showed a similar pattern with initial downloads peaking at 85K in early January and tapering off to about 51K by the last week of March. Active users followed a comparable trend, starting at 495K and decreasing to 415K over the quarter.

Volaris saw a varied download trend, beginning the quarter with 23K downloads and witnessing a significant spike to 67K in mid-March. Active users increased from 64K at the start of the quarter to a peak of 128K in mid-March, before settling at 70K by the end of the quarter.

Google Earth maintained a steady download rate, starting with 32K downloads and fluctuating around this number throughout the quarter, ending with 30K. Active users remained relatively stable, starting at 264K and ending at 250K.

Viva Aerobus showed consistent download figures, beginning with 22K and ending with 27K by the end of March. Active users saw a slight increase from 70K to 75K over the same period.
